This is a plain-language engineering summary, not legal advice or a substitute for the source terms linked in the detailed register.
How the Gate Works
A public value needs a source record, a rights record that permits the intended display, a valid metric and unit, an acceptable review state, and a source locator. If a gate fails, the value remains internal or is shown as unavailable without the restricted data.
Filing Data
- SEC EDGAR
- Factual filing extraction is permitted with a descriptive user agent, caching, polite request rates, accession metadata, and field-level source locators. Raw filing presentation is not republished.
- Issuer and newswire sites
- Decisions are recorded per site. Restrictive or unclear terms stay review-required; an internal decision to retrieve facts does not turn those terms into commercial permission.
Regulator Data
- Petrinex Alberta and Saskatchewan
- Current display is non-commercial with Crown attribution. User export and API redistribution are disabled. Commercial permission remains required.
- Alberta Energy Regulator
- Current statistical and ST37 layers are non-commercial, attributed, and non-endorsed. Commercial redistribution needs written permission; export and API redistribution remain disabled.
- BC Energy Regulator
- The reviewed open licence permits commercial use with attribution. That permission does not broaden Petrinex or AER data shown beside it.
- Saskatchewan well registry
- The reviewed unrestricted-use licence permits use with attribution. It is separate from Petrinex Saskatchewan production rights.
Maps and Imagery
The self-hosted OpenStreetMap-derived PMTiles basemap and Protomaps tooling are used with visible attribution and produced-work separation. The approved EOxCloudless layer is the 2016 edition only, with its required attribution; it is view-only and not evidence of current ownership, production, or boundaries.
Blocked and Unlicensed Sources
The public SEDAR+ website is manual-verification-only and is not scraped. Paid vendor exports are not ingested. Unlicensed market prices, analyst estimates, target prices, and commodity curves are not redistributed. The MVP uses a manual user-entered share price.
Export Rules
Export is evaluated for every included source and review state. A mixed selection inherits the most restrictive contributing source. Disabled exports remain visible with a reason; they are not evidence that the underlying data is missing or zero.
Detailed Source Register
The in-product register shows each recorded owner, terms URL, review date, display decision, commercial-use decision, attribution, export decision, and API-redistribution decision.
